Rock Cycle
- The rock cycle shows how the 3 types of rocks are formed and how they change from one rock to another.
- This is how they are formed-
* First, magma comes out of the earth( once out of the earth it is known as lava) , it cools down and solidifies. This process is called crystallization.
* Once it cools down it forms a rock named igneous rock.
* Weathering breaks the igneous rocks into tiny sediments.
* There are two types of weathering- mechanical and chemical. Mechanical weathering breaks the igneous rocks to sediments.
* Due to erosion, the sediments are taken in the water.
* The sediments is then compacted and cemented and it forms a sedimentary rock.
* This process is called litafication.
* When more and more layers form, the layers below are squeezed into the earth and forms metamorphic rocks.
* Due to the intense heat and pressure, the metamorphic rocks melt and forms magma.
* Then the cycle starts all over again.
