Outer Core
The outer core lies above the inner core and below the mantle. It is a liquid layer that is about 2,226 km thick and it contains iron and nickel. The transition between the inner core and the outer core is located about 5,150 km beneath the earth's surface. The temperature of the outer core is about 4400 Celsius.
